Who We Are

About Us

Our Mission

Our mission at Kentucky African Women Association (KAWA) is to foster African cultural heritage awareness in Northern Kentucky while supporting immigrants in their journey to adapt and thrive in a new cultural environment. We are guided by our commitment to diversity, creativity, and accountability, ensuring everyone, regardless of origin, can find community and support.

Our Vision

We envision a future where cultural understanding bridges divides, immigrants are fully integrated into the community, and African heritage is embraced and honored across the region.

Our Values

Diversity

KAWA embraces diversity by supporting individuals regardless of their origin, race, sexual orientation, or religion. While the organization highlights African heritage, it is open to helping anyone, fostering inclusivity and understanding across all cultural backgrounds.

Adaptability

KAWA recognizes the importance of adjusting to new cultural environments. The organization helps immigrants adapt to American culture while also encouraging Americans to learn and appreciate African customs, ensuring a mutual exchange of cultural understanding.

Creativity

KAWA believes in creative expression as a means of problem-solving and celebrating African culture. Whether through food, music, clothing, or art, creativity is at the heart of how the organization tackles challenges and showcases the richness of African traditions.

Accountability

KAWA holds itself accountable for the people it helps and the impact it makes. The organization tracks its efforts, ensuring that all individuals and communities they support are recognized and that its programs deliver meaningful and measurable results.
